QUETTA: Security forces and police narrowly escaped a remote controlled explosion in Ghot Sonwa near Dera Murad Jamali on Sunday morning. “A police patrol spotted a roadside IED near Ghulam Ahmed Jakhrani tube well,” police officer Ghulam Sarwar told The Express Tribune. Security forces were called in for back up, he said. As they followed the wire of the IED, the security forces and police personnel came near the spot where militants were hiding. The insurgents opened fire and also detonated the explosives. However, no one was hurt in the exchange of fire that lasted over 15 minutes, Sarwar said. The miscreants escaped following retaliatory fire by the police and security forces, he said.
