Baroness Sayeeda Warsi said on Monday Pakistan’s sacrifices in the war against terrorism were far greater than any other country’s in the world. “It is now Pakistan’s war.”
She was addressing a gathering of students and teachers at Punjab University’s Faisal Auditorium. PU Vice Chancellor Mujahid Kamran presided over the ceremony.
Warsi said Pakistan was facing consequences of some of the decisions taken several years ago. She said the Kashmir dispute could be resolved through dialogue. “We must support all initiatives in this regard.”
She said Pakistan’s foreign policy should be devised with public welfare as a top priority.
She said lawmakers should keep in mind expectations of their constituents while making policy decision. She urged Pakistan’s politicians to become genuine leaders instead of only seeking leadership roles.
She said that she would not take part in Pakistan’s politics because there was a lot of work to do for the welfare of Pakistanis in Britain.
She said the people who wanted a change in the national discourse should start by addressing individuals.
Warsi also met Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday. Matters of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting. Sharif said Pakistan and Britain enjoyed friendly relations. He said Pakistan and Britain had the same vision of development and the two countries were trading partners.
