Child abuse: Police arrests alleged rapist

A legal adviser of Khwendo Jirga, Sohail Sultan, said he would provide free legal aid to the victim’s family.

Saidu Sharif police have arrested a 28-year-old man for raping an 11-year-old girl in Gul Kada-II area here.


Shahida* told the police her mother sent her to collect firewood on Sunday evening when a man later identified as Ali Rehman overpowered her and took her to an underconstruction house, where he proceeded to allegedly rape her. Shahida’s mother said her daughter was wounded when she returned and narrated the ordeal she had faced. “I’m a widow and do not have the resources to afford a lawyer for my daughter’s case in court. I appeal to the government to help us get justice,” she said.
