Two arrested for selling donkey meat

Remaining meat and 20 donkeys seized

DI KHAN: Police arrested two people allegedly involved in selling donkey meat in Parowa tehsil of DI Khan on Friday, said an official of Gomal police station.

According to the official, the accused, Mukhtayar alias Mukka and Akhtar, are nomads who live in tents and earn a living by slaughtering donkeys and selling their meat at low prices in the villages of DI Khan and Punjab. Mukhtayar and Akhtar hail from Mandi Bahauddin in Punjab.

The accused were arrested after police raided Jok Kalar area where the tents have recently been set up, added the official.

During the raid, police cordoned off the area and seized the remaining meat and 20 donkeys.

A case has been registered and further investigation is under way as the accused are said to have sold the meat to some hotels as well.
