Capital’s schools, colleges: ‘Rs181m earmarked for security’

207,519 children have been enrolled in sector and 211,237 in private schools.

ISLAMABAD: The government has released Rs181million for strengthening the security of educational institutes of Islamabad, the National Assembly was told on Wednesday. Answering a question, Parliamentary Secretary Raja Javed Ikhlas said Rs4.81 billion has been allocated for educational institutes of the capital. He said 207,519 children have been enrolled in sector and 211,237 in private schools. According to a survey conducted by the Federal Directorate of Education, 11,835 children are out-of-school and plans are being finalised to enroll them, said Ikhlas, adding that at present, eight male and four female schools are functioning in second shifts.
