KARACHI:

Traffic in the city made it impossible for commuters to get from one place to another as the city's main arteries were blocked on Tuesday evening due to a rally organised by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Sharae Pakistan, Sharae Faisal and MA Jinnah Road were blocked and Sharae Quaideen - the venue for the rally was closed off for vehicular traffic.

The party had organised the rally to show solidarity with their chief, Altaf Hussain, and protest against statements made by the chairperson of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf against Altaf Hussain. The rally started around noon near Ayesha Manzil where members, supporters and activists of the MQM gathered and marched down to Quaid-e-Azam's mazaar as a token of the their love for Altaf Hussain.

Smaller rallies were carried out in different parts of the city to show solidarity with the MQM chief. According to the traffic police, diversions had been created to help the city's traffic flow.

Faisal Sal | 6 years ago | Reply The muhajirs are represented by a person who uses the word "chakla" in his speech and his followers (so called educated people) clap and cheer. His language give me a picture of culture and language of mohajir families.
Luciferous | 6 years ago | Reply This is my perdition about Altaf's fate: He will be murdered by his own Rabita committee like they killed Azim Ahmed Tariq, Dr Imran Farooque and numerous other "bhais" because he has become a liability and embarrassment. He will either be killed by drug overdose and it will be declared a suicide or possibly an "accident" by the coroner or he will be killed by "robbers" during home "robbery." In any case, MQM will blame it on his enemies and declare him a "Martyr." MQM will bring his body to Karachi and bury him with great fanfare at 90. What would happen to MQM is not a secret any more; there will be epic street battles over his corpse between brothers Ables and Cains of MQM. Given ET's history; I don't expect this comment to see the light of the day but anyone with any common sense knows what is in store for this miserable creature. What a horrible end awaits him!
