Snooker: Changezi, Hamza set up final clash

In the first semi-final, Shahram Changezi edged out Muhammad Asif in a thrilling 11-setter.

KARACHI: Two upsets were witnessed in the semi-final stage of the 40th National Snooker Championship as the top players – Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Sajjad – both crashed out of the event.

In the first semi-final, Shahram Changezi edged out Muhammad Asif in a thrilling 11-setter as he defeated the former IBSF world champion with a scoreline of 93-01, 80-10(80), 12-104, 79-38, 50-42, 68-33, 32-77, 10-77(64), 66-68, 46-92(52) and (54-12).


The match was closely contested with Asif tying the game in the 10th frame, however, Changezi grinded his way to a win.  In the other semi-final, Hamza Akbar defeated Muhammad Sajjad 6-3 with a scoreline of 36-93, 77-43, 74-16, 14-79(79), 59-15, 62-24, 02-64, 59-48 and 83-20 and will face Changezi in the final on Monday.
