Ad that went viral shows how India have defeated Pakistan in the tournament five times in a row since 1992

KARACHI: India hit a raw nerve with their World Cup advertisement showing how they have defeated Pakistan in the tournament five times in a row since 1992.

The advertisement, that went viral on social media, shows a Pakistani watching the India vs Pakistan match in 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003 and 2011. The footage shows how India defeated Pakistan in all five matches and the man brings out fireworks and doesn’t get to light them.

In the end, the man looks disappointed and says: “Kab phorangay yaar?”

The Indians should be commended for their creativity, no doubt. But this year, we hope Pakistan break the jinx on February 15!

FAISAL FAROOQI | 9 years ago | Reply I'm just catching up with this commercial challenge. As a Pakistani-American living in the US for almost 20 years, I do find it as a good humor. I mean, here in the States, they make rivalry commercials over here when it comes to NFL, MLB, NBA & NHL. There was even a video that viral (which was funny by the way) after Brazil was humiliated by Germany during the World Cup semi-final last year. So what if the India beat Pakistan? Look at where they're now after beating SA a few days ago. So keep up with the commercials!

With matureness and without any abuse, which I wasn't expecting to be honest. :) I'm an Indian and yes this ad has gone viral here in India. This ad is a satire and has put a challenge for Pakistan in a respectable way. It would be very hard for India to beat Pakistan 6th time in 6th clash in a row. If Pakistan loses, India will move to 6/6 from 5/5, but if India loses, their steak will break up. I remember before 15 years, Indian ad industry was so boring and was mainly focused on selling pepsi and soaps, but in all these years, they have been very very creative and even better than western counterparts in some categories. Just waiting for sunday, or you can say just waiting for 6/6. ;)

Watching the ad does hit a raw nerve but it feels like challenge to take them on this time and thrash them. However, if we look at our team I think there are even fewer chances that we will be able to take back it this time. Although India did lose the last few matches I don't think they will be easy for Pakistan. Our players need to be more focussed and put aside any personal grudge and concentrate on the game if they want to win. Good luck Pakistan.

As a pakistani obviously this ad made me remember other losses to india but it has created more hype amongst both indian and pakistani cricket fans! May the best team win!
