Longstanding Demands: Rickshaw drivers stage protest
They raised slogans against traffic wardens and the LTC management.
LAHORE:
Hundreds of rickshaw drivers staged a protest demonstration on Saturday against traffic wardens and the Lahore Transport Company (LTC). The protesters blocked the metro track. They raised slogans against traffic wardens and the LTC management. Majeed Ghauri, a rickshaw union leader, said that traffic wardens were treating rickshaw drivers harshly. “The government recruited educated young men as traffic wardens. They are supposed to be polite to motorists. However, they treat rickshaw drivers as lesser human beings,” he said. The protesters dispersed after DSP Imtiazur Rehman’s visit.
