Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Khwaja Salman Rafique said on Saturday that 1,211 nurses had been promoted to Grade-17.
He said that such a large number of nurses had been promoted for the first time in the history of the department.
Rafique said the department had created 1,500 vacancies for the nurses following a directive from Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
He said this had made it possible for them to be promoted. Health Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik said working papers were being prepared to promote over 500 more nurses.
He said they would be promoted after requisite documents and their annual confidential reports had been completed.
