QUETTA:

Two kidnapped officials of the irrigation department were freed by their captives on Thursday. The freed officials were among the six who were kidnapped from the construction site of Shadi Khor Dam in Pasni area of Gwadar.

The banned Baloch Republican Army had claimed the responsibility for the attack on Monday. The reason behind the release could not be known immediately.

According to paramilitary force officials, a dozen armed men had carried out an audacious gun attack on the construction site in Shadi Khor, before abducting the construction workers.

“The armed men kidnapped six people from the site and fled the scene in their pick up van,” a Levies official had confirmed.

Levies officials in Turbat and Gwadar have opened an investigation into the incident.
