A close call: Bomb defused outside school

The police added students were not allowed to enter and the explosives were defused after a short while.

BANNU: Bomb disposal unit officials defused an explosive device planted in a polythene bag near the gate of a government primary school in Badshah Khan Bharth on Wednesday morning. Mandan police said they received information from locals that a suspicious-looking polythene bag was noticed outside the school. They rushed to the scene with BDU personnel and cordoned off the area. The police added students were not allowed to enter and the explosives were defused after a short while. The area was ultimately declared clear. Meanwhile, Bannu Township police officials closed all government and private schools as well as a college over security concerns. The bomb incident caused panic in the area.
