Presiding over a meeting at CM House, Shah assured the PMA that fool-proof security will be provided and arms licences will be issued to doctors after consultation with the law enforcement agencies.
The meeting decided to give support money to the heirs of the martyred doctors after the approval of the Sindh cabinet.
The chief minister also directed the Sindh IGP and Karachi additional IG to keep close liaison with the PMA and other doctors regarding threats and take action against the culprits.
Addressing the meeting, Shah briefed the PMA delegation about the on-going targeted operation. He talked about how the Sindh government has not only focused on capacity-building of police, but also enhanced their salary at par with the Punjab province.
Referring to the demand of PMA for issuance of arms licences to them, the chief minister said that despite the ban on the issuance of licence, he will consult with the law enforcement agencies to grant the licence to doctors recommended by PMA within 24 hours of their submission.
He said that support money will also be given to the heirs of martyred doctors belonging to both government and private sectors without any discrimination.
PMA president Dr Idrees Adhi informed the meeting about the threats being faced by doctors.
He announced that after the assurance of the chief minister regarding redressing their issues, they have called off their strike.

Very good.
What a useless ploy granting arms license is. What will an unsuspecting 9mm do against a sighted Kalashnikov? More to the point is how will that improve the security situation? In case a bomb is brought to the fight, or there are more than one shooters. As much as keeping arms feels good in this perverted society it is counter productive and may even end up being destructive. Let the doctors concentrate on what they are supposed to do and make the security agencies and judiciary do what they are supposed to do.
