LAHORE:

Punjab University’s syndicate and senate members appealed to the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday to take suo motu notice of a press conference by PU Law college lecturer Khujista Rehan. According to a statement issued on Thursday, PU senate and syndicate members condemned Rehan’s allegations in a joint resolution.

Dr Amir Ijaz, Dr Hafiz Muhammad Rafique, Dr Mehboob Hussain, Dr Abdul Qayyum Chaudhry said that the PU syndicate had not removed Rehan from the university despite 11 months of absence from work.

Later, they said, the courts, too, had ordered the university not to proceed against her.

“In her press conference on Wednesday, Rehan spoke harshly against courts. A suo motu notice should be taken against her under the law. The judiciary is rendering great services for providing justice in the country,” they said. The teachers also demanded that the university administration immediately remove Rehan from university.
