Nabbed: FIA busts gateway exchange

LAHORE: A Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team raided an illegal telephone exchange at Ravi Road late on Tuesday and arrested three people. A team comprising officials from the FIA’s National Response Centre for Cyber Crimes circle and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) raided a house in Qila Muhammadi area and arrested Muhammad Mudassar Raza, Rafaqat Nawaz and Sibtain Haider. An FIA official said that they had seized illegal VOIP exchaange in operational condition, which included 12 gateways with eight ports each and two gateways with 16 ports each, three laptops, eight switches, miscellaneous SIM cards of various cellular phone firms, two PTCL modems, four Wateen modems, Wi-Tribe modems and four CPUs from the house. A case has been registered against the suspects.
