Five killed in landmine blast in Balochistan

Two others were also injured in the blast in Chatter area of Nasirabad distric

NASIRABAD: At least five people were killed and two others were injured when a passenger pickup vehicle hit a landmine in Chatter area of Nasirabad district.

The van was en route to Chatter from Dera Murad Jamali when it hit a landmine placed in Sonwa area of Chatter on Monday. The vehicle was completely destroyed in the blast.

“Five people were killed and two others were wounded in the landmine explosion,” said District Police Officer Nasirabad Saleem Lehri.

Police and rescue workers arrived at the site and cordoned off the crime scene. Theinjured and bodies were transferred to the Divisional Hospital Dera Murad Jamali.

The deceased were identified as retired police sub-inspector Mohammed Salah, a Hindu trader Lal Chand, Yar Mohammed, Mohammed Ibrahim and Sayed Qurban Shah.

Four people died on the spot while the fifth was pronounced dead by the doctors when taken to a nearby government-run hospital, AFP reported

The police have registered the case and started investigation. However, no one has claim the responsibility of the attack.
