PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government on Saturday sought a report on schools purchasing substandard arms for security. The government had earlier directed all schools to arm security guards following the Army Public School attack.

According to an official privy to the development, the government has received complaints about schools purchasing substandard and unlicensed arms for securing their campuses. He also indicated towards possible embezzlement by school administrations that bought cheap equipment and asked the government for more money.

The official said action will be taken once the report is submitted to the government’s bigwigs. Over the past few weeks, there have also been incidents of accidental fire by security guards at different schools in the province, injuring parents and schoolchildren.
