Junaid was replaced with Bilawal Bhatti for the ODIs against the Kiwis to give him ample amount of time to recover but a PCB spokesperson on Saturday was quoted saying that the fast-bowler has not recovered well till now.
"On re-examining Junaid's condition, Pakistan's physiotherapist Brad Robinson and PCB's head of medical and sports sciences Sohail Saleem concurred that he had not recovered sufficiently from the traction injury of the nerve in the posterior right thigh and recommended recuperation at the NCA," said the spokesperson in a statement.
"Subsequently the left-arm fast bowler was withdrawn from the New Zealand tour."
Meanwhile, chief selector Moin Khan was optimistic and said if Junaid recovers in time he would be selected for the World Cup.
