President’s Cup Gold League: NBP humiliate ZTBL with 234-run win

Home side make 343 before dismissing the visitors for just 120.

KARACHI: Sami Aslam and Muhammad Asghar guided NBP to a massive 234-run win over ZTBL at the NBP Stadium in Karachi yesterday in the President’s Cup Gold League.

Batting first, NBP posted a strong total of 343 runs as Aslam scored 120 runs with Kamran Akmal also smashing 94, while Ammar Mehmood and Karamat Ali took three wickets apiece. In reply, ZTBL were restricted to just 109 as Asghar took four wickets with Fawad Alam taking three, while Shahid Yousuf’s 20 was the highest score for ZTBL.



The Karachi Zebras and Islamabad Leopard match was a much closer affair as Zebras won by just one run. Ali Mudassar took three wickets to restrict Leopards to 270-8, with Imad Wasim scoring 89. Earlier, batting first Zebras had posted 271 with the help of Saud Shakeel’s 79.

At the UBL Ground, Karachi Dolphins overcame Rawalpindi Rams by 117 runs as Mir Hamza and Adeel Malik took three wickets each to restrict Rams to 210, despite Naved Malik scoring 76. Earlier, Dolphins had posted 327 with the help of Rameez Raja Junior’s 124.

In another match, SNGPL defeated Peshawar Panthers by four wickets as they reached a daunting target of 286 with one ball to spare as Imran Butt scored 104. Earlier, Panthers scored 285 with the help of Israrullah’s 113.

KRL won by 158 runs against Lahore Lions as Sadaf Hussain took five wickets with Rahat Ali taking four to restrict Lions to 165. Earlier, Shoaib Ahmed scored 78 to help KRL post a total of 323.

Meanwhile, PQA beat SBP by 16 runs as Kamran Younis took three wickets to dismiss the bankers for 279. Earlier, Khurram Mansoor had made 123 to help PQA post 295.
