KHAR:
Being a member of a family that supports establishment of the writ of state in a militant infested tribal area cost Ajmal Khan his life. A shopkeeper by profession, Ajmal was a soft target for the militants, who just walked up to his store and sprayed him with bullets and, as usual, walked away unchallenged. An official of the political administration official at Khar, the headquarters of Bajaur Agency, said that Ajmal Khan was son of pro-government tribal elder Muhammad Akbar. A search operation against suspects has been launched, the official said. It may be noted that in recent days militant activity has increased in Bajaur and killing of pro-government tribal elders and government officials was on the rise. On Wednesday evening, a Levies official was shot dead and on Monday three security officials were killed.
