A woman was allegedly assaulted by three men near Mamu Kanjan police station on Sunday.
Akhtar Ali, the woman’s uncle, told The Express Tribune that his niece Maryam* was going to a bazaar in Chak 505-GB when Sher Ali, Sajid Ali and Khursheed Haidar abducted her.
He said they took her to a field near the village and raped her.
He said they also beat her up for putting up resistance. Ali said the men then fled, leaving her there.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Mamonkanjan SHO said police had registered a case on Ali’s complaint against the suspects and had started investigation.
He said a team had been formed to arrest them. He said Maryam had been asked to submit a medico-legal report. He said the police were awaiting the report before taking further taking further action.
