HYDERABAD:

The workers union of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will set up hunger-strike camps at the organisation’s regional offices, the All-Pakistan NADRA Employees’ Union announced at a press conference on Sunday.

The strike will be observed from February 2 to February 7. “The government has failed to keep its pledge,” said the union’s central president, Saleem Sherpao. “Our demands for job security are being persistently ignored.”

The workers have been demanding federal service structure, pay-scale, medical policy and other employment rights denied in their contractual service. Sherpao said the union held a meeting before initiating this new phase of protests. He warned if the demands were not accepted, they would launch a train march from Karachi to Islamabad on March 7.
