Person involved in Jinnah Residency attack dies in custody

Accused, who was facing serious health issues, was shifted to Provincial Sandeman hospital four days ago

QUETTA: An accused of destroying Jinnah's Residency died at Jail Ward of the Provincial Sandeman Hospital Quetta on Sunday morning.

According to the police surgeon, the prisoner was pronounced dead on Sunday, four days after being rushed to the hospital. The deceased was having serious health issues.

The accused, who was under-trial for destroying Ziarat Residency, was identified as Nasir Khan s/o Meer Hassan, a resident of Shahrag in Harnai district.

Nasir, along with others, was booked under Explosive Act, section 302, 324 at Ziarat Police Station.

The body was handed over to heirs after medico legal formalities.

On August 15, 2013, militants destroyed the Ziarat Residency.  Later the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed the responsibility for the attack.

A year later, security officials claimed that all militants involved in the attack on the Quaid-e-Azam’s residency have been arrested.
