RAWALPINDI:

The City Traffic Police have advised the public to use alternative roads for commuting between the twin cities owing to construction work of the Metro Bus Project on Benazir Bhutto Road.

Remodelling of the road from Flashman’s Hotel to Faizabad and reconstruction of drainage system along the road is under way and hence motorists have been asked to use alternative roads.

Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer Shoaib Khurram Janbaz, in a statement, said commuters should use Airport Road through Koral Chowk, and Peshawar Road through IJP Road and Golra Road to reach Islamabad, as various sections of the old Murree road are being closed for traffic. He said motorists should use Rawal Road, Saidpur Road and IJP Road to reach Rawalpindi city.

The traffic police chief added that a comprehensive traffic plan had been made to check traffic congestion on Benazir Bhutto Road.

Traffic and regular police are also conducting operations against encroachers to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
