Women’s Cricket: SL defeat Pakistan by eight runs

Women in green fall while chasing 151 in 20 overs

KARACHI: A brilliant knock of 50 off 40 balls by Dilani Manodara guided Sri Lanka Women to an eight-run win over Pakistan Women in the first T20I which was played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in UAE on Thursday.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat, setting a target of 151 from their allotted 20 overs. Opener Chamari Atapattu scored 31 off 23 before being caught by Pakistan captain Sana Mir off Sania Khan’s delivery, while Manodara smashed five boundaries to reach the half-century mark. Sania Khan took two wickets for Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Pakistan started off well with Javeria Khan and Bismah Maroof scoring 40 and 50 respectively, however, that was not enough as Pakistan succumbed to a batting-order collapse, losing six wickets for meagre scores in the last seven overs. Inoka Ranaweera and Ama Kanchana claimed two each for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka lead the three-match series 1-0.
