
The opener fell two short of his maiden first-class century as he gave West Indies a flying start with a 98-run knock. He built up two crucial partnerships to lay the foundation of a strong reply to Pakistan’s 261 in their first-innings.
Powell shared a 60-run opening partnership with Kraigg Brathwaite and then a 91-run third-wicket stand with Assad Fudadin. Jonathan Carter guided West Indies after Powell was dismissed, finishing the day unbeaten on 44. For Pakistan, Zulfiqar Babar grabbed two wickets after conceding 70 runs.
Earlier, the visitors added another 22 runs before being bowled out. Khurram Manzoor made 104 to be the highest scorer for Pakistan.
