KARACHI: The steering committee of Sindh education department planned the schedule of the academic session, admissions, examinations, vacations and holidays for the year 2015.

Education minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro chaired the meeting on Wednesday held in the committee room of the Sindh Assembly.

The committee decided that the academic session of O' and A' Level schools will start from August 1, while that of all other schools will commence from April 1. Colleges will start their sessions from August 2.

According to Khuhro, students of classes one and two have the benefit of automatic promotion but there will be written tests of these students for the sake of creating a sense of examination among them. Exams of classes one to eight will be completed by March 15 and results will be announced by March 31.  Theoretical examinations of class nine and Matric will commence from April 7 and practical exams will follow. Khuhro said the Matric results will be announced by July 15 by all boards of Sindh while the Board of Secondary Education, Karachi, will announce results by July 31. Similarly, theoretical exams of Intermediate parts one and two will start from April 28 and the results of part two will be announced by all boards of Sindh on August 31 while the Board of Intermediate, Karachi, will announce them by September 15.

Khuhro added the results of intermediate part one exams shall be announced within 60 days of announcement of the results of part two.

The education minister announced that the summer vacations in all educational institutions shall be observed from June 1 till August 1 and educational institutions shall reopen on August 3. He added that winter vacations shall begin from December 22 and end on December 31.
