The boy also confessed to molesting the five-year-old several times before his death.
Hours earlier, the family of the five-year-old victim protested in Green Town with the body but dispersed peacefully after Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains assured them that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
The capital city police officer (CCPO) Lahore, while speaking to media, confirmed the 16-year-old suspect was among the 11 suspected assailants arrested earlier for hanging the boy to death.
"Shoaib worked as a hairdresser at a barber shop located near the mosque," he added.
An autopsy report, on January 4, confirmed that the boy who was recovered from the roof of a mosque was molested several times before his death.
A doctor at the Jinnah Hospital – where the body was moved for autopsy – also said there were some marks of torture and assault on the body.
Soon after the incident, the family of the victim also protested in the area earlier after which the city's police assured them that the perpetrators will be brought to justice soon.

@Shahzaib: I have worked with Punjab Police and i know their dirty tactics. How many of you have ever witnessed their brutalities and their tactics. ?. Most of the ET readers are first and generation migrants families residing in the West and then calling the locals as hypocritical is the Hypocrisy of its own kind. You have no idea how Pakistan works. How many of you know the real ground realities or have ever encountered Punjab Police ?. Believe me most of them are just devils in human clothing. I know them very well. Let me tell you that the Torture tactics which our police use can even force an Innocent person to claim the murder. Kindly remember that the glass is always half full and for the Opinionated people like you i am not answerable at all.
This goes to show what has happened to society. We are losing values fast.
He can't get capital punishment and he doesn't have enough brain to be reformed.

This looks like a deliberate cover up to save the mullah......a simple medical / lab test should determine who the culprit was.
Why this 16 year old boy had an access to a room on the roof of the mosque. Since he is not even a student and works somewhere else. Mosque Authority should be held equally responsible.

This is a henious crime. This issue must be taken seriously & be condemned strongly on national level. The Government need to take strong and an exemplary approach by punishing those who are abusing innocent childern mentally and physically. On the other hand parents who send their children to madrassa needs to ensure that their children are in safe hands.
A 16 year old is carefully selected as the scapegoat since his case will be treated as the Juvenile one and he could be freed after a small jail time. Let us be fair that there are hundreds of cases of molestation occurring around Religious places and even in schools but nobody wants to discuss about them. Almost all of them go unnoticed and in this case since the minor was murdered so this case was highlighted
If the 16 years old can sexually assault the victim and then kill him, then he should be tried as an adult and punishment should be carried out in public.
