KARACHI: A district and sessions court sentenced on Tuesday a man to imprisonment for the period he had already served in prison during trial. The court order came after he confessed to the crime. Ziaul Haq, son of Faraz Khan, was arrested by the police in May, last year, during a snap checking in Saddar Town as an illicit weapon was found in his possession. During the hearing, when the additional district and sessions judge of District South, Abdul Qudoos Memon, asked Haq if the charges against him were correct, he admitted, saying that he had carried an unlicensed weapon and regretted this. The judge, thereafter, sentenced him to imprisonment for eight months, which he has already served after the arrest. The convict was also ordered to pay Rs25,000 as fine, failure to which will result in an additional 30-day jail term. He was booked under Section 23(1)-A of the Sindh Arms Act at the Preedy Police Station.
