Two people, kidnapped near the Chandan Sharif village on December 31, were recovered after an encounter with the kidnappers near RD-37 of Dahar Wah in Mirpur Mathelo on Monday.
The two men were kidnapped within the limits of the Dad Leghari police on January 1. The police received a tip-off that a gang of kidnappers were shifting the abductees from one place to another. A heavy contingent, led by the Ubauro DSP, raided the area near RD-37 of Dahar Wah. Upon seeing the police, the kidnappers opened fire and one of the gang members was arrested after the encounter. The others managed to escape, leaving behind the kidnapped peasants, identified as Shahid Leghari and Abdul Wahab Leghari.
Police officials have also recovered a Kalashnikov rifle from the arrested kidnapper, identified as Rafiq Pitafi. A case has been registered against five kidnappers, including Pitafi, Iqbal Shar, Abdul Majeed Shar and two others, at the Dad Leghari police station.
