A terror bid was foiled on Saturday after a bomb found inside a suspicious-looking bag near Qalandria Chowk in North Nazimabad was defused by officials of the bomb disposal squad.
Meanwhile, police claim to have detained a suspect who was recording a video of the site from his mobile phone. What was different about this bomb was the writing: "Revenge of the martyrs of al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent".
Police officials said that the bomb was planted at the roadside near Jamia Masjid Qalandria where a police van is usually stationed for snap checking.
Following the discovery of the bomb, BD experts were immediately summoned to the site, who managed to defuse the bomb within half an hour.
According to the BDS officials, the bomb weighed around three kilogrammes and comprised steel nails.
