RAWALPINDI:

Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) President Syed Asad Mashadi has said the government made commitments to resolve issues pertaining to taxation, including SRO 608, but no tangible effort has been made to address these problems.

The RCCI chief said that almost two months ago, on the surety of Punjab’s chief minister, the business community postponed its planned strike but no commitment has been honoured so far.

A regular meet of the community is scheduled to take place in the first week of February to discuss problems, which can result in the decision to carry out the protest despite government persistence.

The chief said that businessmen are receiving notices under the SRO, which is creating further panic in the community.
