HANGU: Orakzai Agency Political Agent (PA) Zubair Khan said on Friday they will meet their target for immunising children in forthcoming polio campaigns in the agency. The agency aims to inoculate over 32,000 children.

Khan was presiding over a meeting at Orakzai Agency’s headquarters in Hangu regarding the polio campaign. The meeting was attended by Assistant Political Agent Qaisar Khan, Agency Surgeon Dr Muhammad Idrees, Additional Political Agent Ahmad Zaib Khan and other officials.

“We should utilise all our potential to achieve 100% immunisation during the upcoming campaign,” said Zubair. He added no one under the age of five will be left unvaccinated in the agency.

The political administration will take strict action against officials who are negligent in their duties during the drive, he said. Zubair added 154 teams have been formed for the campaign, including seven fixed, four transit and 123 mobile teams.

The PA said, “These teams will immunize 32,955 children across the agency.” Polio teams will also be present at all entry and exit routes to the agency, he said.
