At least we are not Dubai (IV)

LONDON: This is with reference to George Fulton’s piece on Dubai published in your newspaper on April 21. Our love affair with that city in particular and the Middle East in general is based on a mirage. It is ironic that Dubai is second home to many of our political rulers who have no qualms encouraging migrant workers to set off to ‘greener pastures’ where they face terrible working conditions. The sorry state of migrant workers in Dubai is welldocumented but that doesn’t stop rich and well-heeled Pakistanis from hopping off to the city every now and then.
