Annual performance: Police recovered Rs140 million in 2014

Operations DIG Haider Ashraf said on Wednesday that city police had arrested 2,059 men wanted for various offences and recovered over Rs140 million in 2014. He said 2,754 cases had been registered against them. DIG Ashraf said police had also arrested 8,668 proclaimed offenders and 10,466 court absconders during the year. He said 4,581 cases had been registered against people for possessing arms illegally. DIG Ashraf said 4,657 had been arrested in this regard. “Police recovered 61 Kalashnikovs, 190 riffles, 358 guns, 4,287 revolvers and pistols, four knives and 113,643 bullets,” he said. DIG Ashraf said 7,221 drug peddlers had been arrested in 2014 and 386 kilogrammes of heroine, 1,637 kilogrammes of hashish, 25 kilogrammes of opium and 90,966 bottles of liquors had been seized during the year. He said 6,482 people had been arrested for gambling and Rs5.862 million had been recovered from them.
