Illegal construction: 24 letters issued for law chambers

Our Correspondent January 07, 2015

LAHORE: Twenty-four lawyers have been issued allotment letters for the chambers constructed illegally on a lawn of the Model Town Courts. Lahore Bar Association Model Town vice president Zameer Ahmed Jhedu said that letters had been issued for a total of 45 chambers now. Earlier, allotment letters were issued for 21 chambers. A lawyer, requesting anonymity, claimed that the lawyers who constructed the 24 chambers had warned the LBA that they would not let their chambers be demolished unless the first 21 chambers were razed first. LBA president Chaudhry Ishtiaq said that the lawyers who had constructed the illegal chambers were being persuaded to demolish their chambers, but had not agreed to it so far.
