The announcement was made by APML secretary general Dr Muhammad Amjad in Islamabad following the party’s central executive committee meeting.
Amjad claimed that many stalwarts of PML-N and PPP have also held meetings with the former military ruler and showed their confidence in his leadership.
Many senior leaders of PML-N from central and southern Punjab have also contacted the former president. “These leaders think that Pervez Musharraf has the leadership qualities and charisma to bring the country out of this crisis,” he stated. However, some of the leaders meeting Musharraf had requested him not to disclose their names, Amjad said.
He said that the nation would soon see a UML in the country, which would have a greater role in the next general elections.
He particularly mentioned some key names including PPP senior leader Amin Fahim, PML-Q leadership and Functional league chief Pir Sahib Pagara.
Moreover, he said, the APML expresses its confidence over the decision of the political and military leadership to constitute special courts. “The APML wants not only to see that the terrorists are punished, but action is also taken against those who support, finance and assist them in one way or the other,” he stated.
He said that the APML has decided to reactivate the party at district, tehsil and union council levels across the country to play an active role in the Pakistani politics amid what he described as “a failure of the traditional political leaders to handle the situation.”
He said that the APML’s CEC has endorsed the party constitution, which was approved at the party convention in Karachi on August 10, 2014. Dr Amjad added that the party has formed several wings including labour, youth, women, overseas and media, which is the requirement under the ECP law.
He also announced that the party would participate in the election of Gilgit-Baltistan’s legislative assembly, where Pervez Musharraf has overwhelming support due to his extra-ordinary development work during his tenure.
While commenting on the Pakistan Peoples Party’s co-chairman Asif Zardari’s allegation against Musharraf for hatching conspiracy to topple the Sindh provincial government, Dr Amjad said Pervez Musharraf has no interest in removing the provincial government at this stage. “The performance of the PPP in the province, which will decide the fate of its government,” he noted.

Pakistan is a funny mulk. I come to ET for entertainment and Pakistan never fails me.
@Wali: Haters will hate and never see or accept the truth. The economic development in Musharraf's time is well accepted and recognized internationally. Shaukat Aziz was named Asian finance minister of the year, and as foreign investment hotspot when Pakistan was named in the Next 11 fastest developing countries in the world after BRIC countries. These are FACTS. Today the steps Musharraf took to curb terrorism are being resurrected after 6 lost years. His only fault was he believed in ruling the country democratically when maybe he should have ruled as a dictator and then we would have forced policies that democratic govts have failed to take such as building Kalabagh dam. Judging from forums like this I am glad by far most people see the facts about Musharraf and few, like yourself, don't.
@Wali Beta !!
You need education and eyes! What progress happened in Musharraf ere was a big example!! I ddont need to give fact and figure but it's about time you guys come out of Stone Age
East or West .... Pervez Musharraf the best !!!
What was the name of his first party ?
General Sahab we need you back.May God be with you!!
Recent event prove that Musharaf Sahib still possess great powers. It doesn't matter what you do with the country or constitution, what really matters is how strong and brotherly relationship you maintain with the real power holders of the country. With his strong credentials and proven track record he deserves to replace Imran Khan to become third strongest political leader of the country. Its a great chance for PPP, PML(N), MQM and PTI supporters who have lost trust in their leaderships.
Most welcome sir. My vote is for you
we will follow Musharraf's lead.
@Israr: Abu Jahil also stood by his Beliefs and never accepted the truth. Keep it Up.
I am not a fan of NS and AZ but i can say that anyone who thinks Musharraf is a visionary or has hope in him is dillusional. Musharraf was be all and all in this country for 8years and whatever he did was, just like the repeated failures of PML and PPP, on principle of self preservation. From playing double games on taliban while raking in CSF to further maligning/involving military in politics and not doing anything for energy/power supply while the writing was on the wall - in fact further increasing the imminent shortfall by introducing CNG... I am sorry but Musharraf has had his day and can not see him back before the pigs start flying!
We welcome you sir, you have been tested and proved that you are the best of the lot ! My next vote for you !
Musharraf is the best leader Pakistan ever had. My vote is for him.
Pervez Musharraf is the true visionary and leader.
He is the most able leader and time is proving it. Every sensible and true patriot is with Pervez Musharraf.
@HZ: You mean to say there is no one else in the Country to lead us!! I don't believe this. These are all tested and tried. They all are selfish and went while saving their rule. There were better ways to shed the squint but he shot himself in the foot on whose advice? Take a guess.
Musharraf is the most able leader in Pakistan, and unlike other leaders he has a solid track record to prove it. However, he should not associate with failed leaders from other parties, otherwise the same old faces will appear on his team.
We are waiting with bated breadth for the United Muslim League. Salams
If its not Imran Khan then I would much rather prefer Musharraf than PMLN or PPP ever again in my life.
Only in Pakistan!!! A guy charged with overthrowing constitution with possibility of a death sentence is free to make top level political alliances while his case is still processing. Egg in the face of all fake egotistic politicians who looked to get popularity points and the media outlets who looked to get TRP's through the sham trial of the sham commando.
