KARACHI: Various civic bodies have made all out efforts to ensure well-organised celebrations on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi (pbuh) on Sunday (today).

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) established two camps at Numaish Chowrangi while the fire department, Rescue 1299, Edhi and Chhipa have deployed their contingents along the route of the Rabiul Awal 12 procession, especially around Nishtar Park.

"We have also been directed to carry out repair and maintenance of all streetlights and the sewerage system, especially on MA Jinnah Road," said KMC municipal services senior director Masood Alam.

Similarly, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) spokesperson said that they have completed the arrangements to provide water and sewerage facilities in several areas, such as Nishtar Park, MA Jinnah Road, Ranchore Lines, Kharadar, Orangi Town, Korangi and North Karachi.

The K-Electric spokesperson said that the entire city has been exempted from load-shedding starting from Saturday night till Monday morning. "We also provided extra connections to all processions and congregations of Eid Miladun Nabi," he said.

The spokesperson also requested that people avoid hooking up illegal connections in order to avoid any inconvenience, as extra burden may trip down their local transfer station and result in unannounced load-shedding.

Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah directed the KMC and the civil administration, and officials of the local government department to remove hurdles along the routes of processions. The chief minister also directed the management of the K-Electric and other power utility companies in the province to avoid load-shedding on the occasion.
