Crime control : Four killed in encounter

LAHORE: Police claimed to have killed four men wanted for several offences during an encounter on Friday in Manawan area. Amjad, Shakir, Usman and Irfan had managed to escape from a police van in 2008 and had been absconding since then. Iqbal Town DSP Riaz Shah told The Express Tribune that police had raided a shop they used to frequent following a tipoff. He said the men had fired on the team when it reached the spot. DSP Shah said they were killed in the ensuing encounter.  He said the men were involved in over 40 cases including murder, terrorism, robbery, street crime and attempted murder. DSP Shah said Shakir and Usman were also wanted for killing policemen. He said two of their accomplices were already being held.
