Police claimed on Friday to have arrested six illegal Afghan immigrants from various parts of the city.


According to details, Muhammad Awais, Nasrullah and Muhammad Gul, who were travelling from Rahim Yar Khan to Islamabad, were arrested at a picket near Sultanpur.

Meanwhile, a police team raided a house in Chak 75P 3 on a tip off and arrested Abdul Bari, Fida Hussain and Asmat Ullah.

They were taken to a police station and cases were registered against them under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act.

In Chiniot, police arrested seven Afghans immigrants.

District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Abdul Qadir Qamar told newsmen that Gul Haidar, Manazir Khan, Gul Khan, Roz Khan, Ghulam Khan, Zafar Khan and Naseem Ullah Khan had failed to provide identity papers during a search operation and were arrested. He said they had been shifted to an undisclosed location for questioning. He said police were hoping to find more terror suspects through search operations.
