
Education Executive District Officer (EDO) Bashir Zahid Goraya told The Express Tribune said that after the massacre in Peshawar on December 16, the government had ordered the Education Department to beef up security around schools.
He said on Friday, Rs73 million was issued for 400 public schools. He said security cameras would be installed and walls would be constructed around buildings.
He said boundary walls would be raised to eight feet. The EDO said Rs54 million would be spent on construction of walls and Rs19 million would be spent on installation of CCTV cameras.
He said schools with over 500 students would be provided Rs50,000 so that they could take steps to improve security around their campuses.
