LAHORE:

Case proceedings were disrupted as under-trial prisoners could not be produced before courts in the city due to extensive police deployment for the Basant celebrations.

According to sources, police personnel assigned to security related to Basant festivities were unable to escort detained suspects to court, resulting in their absence from scheduled hearings.

As a consequence, courts set new dates in a number of cases where under-trial prisoners were not presented. Trial proceedings in several cases were adjourned without any progress.
