Shoot-out: Sub-inspector killed in crossfire

UPPER DIR: A sub-inspector (SI) was killed while three police officials including an SHO were injured in crossfire during a raid in Nehag Bandai, Upper Dir early Saturday morning. Circle DSP Farman Khan said police carried out a raid in order to arrest proclaimed offender Zafarullah in Nehag Bandai. During crossfire, Jagam SHO Khanzada Khan, investigation team in charge SI Siraj Khan, SI Behrul Mulk and head constable Ismail were injured. They were rushed to Timergara hospital where Siraj Khan succumbed to injuries. A heavy contingent of police launched a search operation following the crossfire and arrested Zafarullah. The accused was wanted in multiple cases of murder and attempted murder. Police registered a case under Section 7 of Anti-terrorism Act 1997 against Zafar and handed him over to Vari police. Meanwhile, Siraj Khan’s funeral prayers were offered at Dir Police Lines, where several political leaders and law-enforcement officials were present.
