All shook up: Tremors jolt Malakand Division again

An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale jolted parts of Malakand Division

MINGORA:


An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale jolted parts of Malakand Division on Saturday.


According to the meteorological department, the tremors were felt in Swat, Buner, Shangla, Dir, Chitral and other parts of the division. The epicentre of the quake was at the Hindu Kush mountain range. There were no immediate reports of damage to property or loss of life in Swat.


This is the second quake to hit the valley over the last 24 hours.


Earlier, on Friday, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale hit parts of Malakand Division.


Tremors were felt in the same districts along with other areas of the division.


According to the meteorological department, the epicentre of the quake was at the Afghan-Tajik border.


While no loss to life and property was reported, the tremor sent people into a state of panic.


A large number of residents in Mingora rushed out of their houses upon feeling the tremors and began praying.
