He also highlighted their contribution to the Islamabad police adding that they were assigned very important duties as part of effective policing.
He was addressing the Christian community at a cake cutting ceremony at Khatoon-e-Fatima Church, here on Thursday.
The event was also attended by Christian employees of the police, priests Yousuf Amanat and Asif Riaz.
Acknowledging the role of the Christian staff members of the police, the SSP said that there was a dire need of promoting interfaith harmony.
“All Pakistanis are brothers and there should be no discrimination among any of the citizens of the country. Minorities’ role is greatly acknowledged in the development of the country,” Junejo said.
He said members of the Christian and other communities were performing in various wings of the police including special branch. None of them were discriminated against.
The SSP presented Christmas gifts to the police employees on the occasion.
Junejo said that the police had made a comprehensive strategy to prevent crime, with close liaison between police and the public.
He said that security at all exit and entry points of the city, public places, markets and parks had been enhanced and patrolling teams were constituted for the purpose.
