LAHORE: IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera made it binding on policemen to declare their assets on Monday to be promoted.

The decision has been taken to eradicate corruption in the department and promote transparency and merit. Investigation Additional IG Tariq Yasin formulated and issued new performance evaluation reports for 2014 following a directive from Inspector General Sukhera.

Details of assets including their nature, location, sources and information regarding assets owned before joining the force would be furnished in the reports.

ASIs, SIs, traffic wardens and inspectors who fail to submit details would not be considered for promotion and their cases would be deferred. The directive will come into force on December 31. The information collected in the forms would be screened at computer branches in the offices of the RPOs, CCPO and DIGs.

25 files of select officials chosen by secret ballot would be published in the press to authenticate the information submitted.

Action would be taken against those found guilty of submitting bogus information.

Separate criteria have been defined to evaluate the performance of officials belonging to various departments including the Operations, the Investigation, the Intelligence, the Telecommunication Wings, the Special Branch, Training Centres and the Elite Force.
