MLO rape case : Nurse to testify in court

The nurse was treated for injuries after jumping from first floor flat allegedly to escape MLO trying to assault her.

KARACHI: Police failed to present in court on Tuesday the trainee nurse who was allegedly raped by a medico-legal officer (MLO) at Jinnah hospital. The court ordered them to present her at the next hearing.

It also ordered that the suspended MLO Abdul Jabbar Memon should be provided B class facilities in jail.

The defendant’s lawyer, Muhammad Hanif Sama advocate, completed his arguments.

Meanwhile, the investigation officer (IO) of the case presented the prosecution’s witnesses in Additional District and Sessions Judge South Abdur Razzaq’s court on Tuesday.

The court also called the trainee nurse to come to court and testify but the IO responded that she was busy with nursing examinations and had refused to come.

The court remarked that her testimony was essential and must be presented in court by December 7.

It also recorded the testimony of the petitioner, the hospital’s chief security officer, Akram Janjua.

The hearing was adjourned till December 7.

The nurse was treated for head injuries in July after she jumped from the first floor flat in Doctors’ Colony allegedly to escape Memon, who was trying to assault her. The MLO was suspended by the hospital administration.
