Stranger danger: Man arrested for raping teenager

FAISALABAD: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a man accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in Millat Town. Abdul Rauf, a resident of Chak 201-RB, told The Express Tribune his niece was going to a bazaar when she was abducted by a 30-year-old Muhammad Yousaf*, a resident of the same locality overpowered. He said he took her to a sugarcane field and raped her. He said when she resisted, he beat her. He said the man then left her there. He said she was found by some farmers who took her to a hospital. Millat Town station house officer said police had registered a case and formed a team to arrest the suspect. He said the teams conducted raids and arrested him from a friend’s house. He said police were waiting for the medico legal report of the victim before taking further action. Separately, a two-year-old boy died after he was crushed under a bus near Dijkot police station. Police said the child was crossing the road when the bus hit him. They said he died on the spot. A case has been registered against the driver of the vehicle.
