JAMRUD: At least 22 militants were killed in fresh air strikes in the remote areas of Khyber Agency on Tuesday. Fighter jets bombed hideouts of militants in the Dawatoi, Daras and Tora Darra areas of Jamrud tehsil around 4pm, according to Assistant Political Agent of Jamrud Fahad Wazir. “Ten hideouts were destroyed and 22 militants killed,” he said. Local sources said there were no civilian casualties in the blitz. Separately, the political administration shut Jamrud Bazaar after the grisly terrorist attack at the Peshawar school. It was learnt that the Pak-Afghan Highway was also blocked for traffic. An official of the political administration said that all vehicles were thoroughly checked at all checkpoints in the area. He added that they have also launched a search operation in the area, though no arrests were made.
