Passion for the arts: IGP hands out certificates to art students

LAHORE. Every individual has the right to protest peacefully, “but it is our prime responsibility to protect the property and lives of people”, Police Inspector General Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera said on Tuesday. “And we will fulfil our responsibility, come what may,” he said. The IGP was speaking at the closing ceremony to honour students of National College of Arts Lahore who received distinction in their Visual Arts theses. He said in the future, the police would make sure that journalists were provided security when they went to cover rallies and gatherings. NCA Principal Dr Murtaza Jaffari said they received 100 theses on visual arts of which, 15 were selected. The IGP distributed certificates among the first three position holders Zorain Murtaza, Ahmad Sajjad and Muhammad Zaman Baloch. The IGP said he was passionate about the arts and despite his hectic routine as a police officer, he always took out time to participate in art activities.
